Externally the most obvious is the catamaran engineering hull. An unconventional Starfleet design, the Akira has several notable features. One of Starfleet's more combat oriented vessels the Akira saw extensive service in the 2370s against the Borg and the Dominion. Given some portions of the blocks of text on different ships are identical, it could have been an editing error. The Akira class was a Federation heavy cruiser that came into service with Starfleet during the latter half of the 24th century. It could be theorized that the contradiction is caused by a comparison of launcher machinery to actual launch points, but no further data regarding this detail is available.

The Akira-class heavy cruisers were equipped with Type-X phasers, Mk 80 torpedo launchers, and LF-35 linear warp engines.
